Bob Palmerton focuses on landscape scenes of Southeast Michigan, including
Washtenaw, Lenawee and Monroe Counties.
Bob finds pastel painting particularly satisfying due to the
breadth of colors and the variety of pastels available, as well as the portability of the medium. Pastels
are made of pure pigment bound into sticks and applied by hand. Paintings are typically built up on the paper base starting
with a layer of hard and semi-hard pastels or a watercolor underpainting, with successive layers of soft pastels
applied to finish the painting. Bob's paintings are started on site or from digital photographs, and are completed
in his Saline, Michigan studio.
Bob's subjects consist mainly of scenes from Southeast Michigan
including farmland and nature preserves. His occasional visits to the East Coast inspire a variety of paintings
from seascapes to sunsets.
Bob is a member of the Great Lakes Pastel Society.
His paintings can be found in various galleries and shops in Southeast Michigan. If you are interested in purchasing
