Learning How To Draw (Again)

I'm a landscape painter. There is no doubt that landscapes can be very complicated. A scene may be cluttered with tall grasses and weeds, trees that get in the way of a great view, and a variety of distracting objects!

So I worked up a simple approach to composing my paintings that focus on a lattice-like grid to apportion masses of shape and value in pleasing arrangements.

This simple schematic below might not mean much to you right now, but it really kept my artistic inclinations in focus:

The three sketches represent three different winter landscape scenes that I am painting in the pure color of pastel. You can view the demonstration of the lattice technique by visiting my StudioSense YouTube channel. Click here for the demo.
