Along this trail at Acadia National Park, the trees rise slender and pale, their trunks thinning as they disappear into mist, more suggested than defined. The background dissolves into layers of lavender, sage green, and soft gray, giving the sense that the forest extends far beyond what can be seen. There is no sharp horizon—only depth, atmosphere, and quiet continuity.
 
Walking here, you would feel held by stillness. The air feels cool and slightly damp against your skin, carrying the faint scent of moss and wet pine needles. Sounds are distant and understated: the muffled cadence of footsteps, perhaps a bird heard but not seen, the near-silence that comes only when the world is wrapped in fog.
